World Homelessness Day prompt action from local council

Another council offers package of incentives for private landlords to help solve its housing shortage crisis.

October 10th was World Homelessness Day, resulting in Exeter City Council stepping up its homelessness support efforts with a new campaign.

The council teamed up with partners to launch Homelessness Awareness Week which ran from 9th to 13th October.

Over the five days, the council and partners claim they have been  actively highlighting what help there is, and how people can go about getting support.

Homeless Access Together (HAT) one of the partners of the council have pledged additional support for formerly homeless people including help to deal with issues once they have moved into private accommodation.

A statement from Exeter council says: Housing Access Together has a vision to create sustainable tenancies that work for both landlords and tenants. Tenants are matched to private properties following a comprehensive suitability and affordability assessment. It pledges to also provides ongoing support for both landlords and tenants.

They went on to say: It can provide generous incentive package offers and a competitive range of financial and other benefits, including up-front cash incentives to private landlords.
